This beach of fine sand is located between the councils of Castropol and Tapia de Casariego divided by the stream of Peñarronda. In its western half, the winds of component north-west have created a dune field that gives shelter to a varied flora.
The natural values that have led to declare it Natural Monument can be summarised in two factors: it marks the western end of the small nesting area of the Eurasian oystercatcher and constitutes the only location of sea-grass (Malcomia Littorea) of the Asturian coasts.
